Multidisciplinary Oncology
and Cancer Research
Oncology is one of the broadest scientific disciplines. It involves not only Clinical Oncologists but clinicians and surgeons from a wide variety of specialties, as well as of researchers from many branches of the Basic Sciences.
If networking and sharing information is beneficial for clinicians and researchers in general, this is particularly true for the ones who are involved in cancer research and cure, at all levels.
Being part of this group, scientists show their interest in asking and giving consultations and ideas.
A clinician from a less specialized Center will be able to ask for opinions and eventually refer patients.
More experienced clinicians will be able to consult each other, and offer their help to colleagues seeking for advice. The same is for researchers in basic sciences, who can also more easily start collaborations.
Last but not least, gathering scientists involved in cancer at any level allows clinicians and researchers to talk at the same "table" to evaluate collaborations: no longer a doctor without a lab will not be able to participate in basic research, or the researchers will struggle to find the material and the casistic for a study!
We are recreating a virtual and permanent "conference environment", where attending scientists can freely discuss ideas, cases, researches, collaborations.
Before the online databases gave immediate accessibility to almost any published scientific article, doctors' and researchers' hunger for notions was limited to the journals available in their library.
The possibility to gain the most updated information quickly and from their desk, clearly improved the quality of clinical care and basic research.
We hope to give a similar benefit to the Members of PrometeoNetwork, by extending our online network to the widest Scientific Community possible!
