European Society for Biomaterials (ESB)
Biomaterials study and development involve skills and technologies coming from biology, chemistry, physics, materials engineering and medicine. The European Society for Biomaterials (ESB www.esbiomaterials.eu) is non-profit scientific society whose main objective is to encourage progress in the field of biomaterials in all its aspects, including research, teaching and clinical applications, as well as to foster any other related activity. It was founded in March 1976, and became a member of the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Sciences and Engineering (IUS-BSE) at its conception in 1979. The ESB has approximately 750 members from 32 different countries worldwide. The Young Scientist Forum (YSF), originally born as an event integrated in the annual conference of the ESB, is now the permanent section of ESB aimed by young researchers at discussing biomaterials education and training in Europe, emphasising the existing and emerging career, as well as research opportunities in the field.
MISSION
The ESB Society is non-profit making and its objectives are:
To encourage, foster, promote and develop research, progress and information concerning the science of biomaterials, as well as to promote, initiate, sustain and bring to a satisfactory conclusion research with others and programs of development and information in this particular field.
To collaborate with other associations and bodies whose efforts are directed at the same objectives and whose interest are allied with or are similar to those of the Society itself.
To promote the propagation of scientific information through publications and meetings.
To co-operate with other scientific organizations, governmental and private bodies, both national and international, in order to establish specifications and standards for biomaterials in general.
To encourage progress in the field of biomaterials in all its aspects, including research, teaching and clinical applications, as well as to foster any other activity pertinent thereto.
AIMS
ESB and YSF (Young Scientist Forum) want to be a platform for the present and "next generation" of scientists and engineers in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
We strongly support, not only across Europe, the interactivity between young scientist, science and industry. We have many delegates spread over several Countries but new collaborations are highly welcome. Contact the ESB/YSF representatives and Board members to show your projects and ideas.
